5 years of applied research have been conducted to date with a team of mixed academic and commercial experts funded by Innovate UK. This has resulted in the Geo-Engine; a machine optimised to generate energy from a previously wasted resource. Our research and designs represent a way to help clean up hydrocarbon production.

Sour gas is the most abundant energy resource on the planet, making up 60% of all known gas reserves. Sour gas will dominate all future gas discoveries and developments. However, sour gas is heavily contaminated with variable amounts of highly acidic CO2 and H2S, and all the gases have to be separated for sale or venting. The production of sour gases is associated with high pressure and temperature.

Despite these challenges, it is still a commercially attractive resource. Geo-Engine is an integrated, portable, electricity generation sled that can be fitted at the wellhead to produce power from the raw uncleaned gas flow.

NetZero energy produced by Geo-Engines can be used to sequester carbon, power the cleaning plant and compress the cleaned gas for LNG transportation, if required.
